The 41st annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards — widely considered the biggest awards show in gospel music — will be taped live at the Spectrum Center on Aug. 15, with performances expected from powerhouse vocalist Jekalyn Carr and the legendary John P. Kee with New Life Community Choir.
Kee, who has deep roots in the region, performing alongside New Life Community Choir on a Charlotte stage promises to be a highlight for local gospel lovers.
But the celebration doesn’t start and end on awards night. Stellar Plus Week, scheduled for Aug. 12-14, will offer a full slate of activities including master classes, soundstages, fashion shows, comedy showcases and other fan events tied to the awards, Praise Charlotte reported.
Founded in 1985 by Central City Productions CEO Don Jackson, the Stellar Awards celebrate excellence in gospel music and air nationwide on television networks including BET, Bounce TV and the Stellar Network, bringing Charlotte’s moment to audiences across the country.
The ceremony is expected to draw major artists and fans from across the nation to the Queen City this summer.
