New 1,000-capacity concert venue coming to South End Charlotte. When & what to know

Live music fans in Charlotte will soon have a new spot to sing along with their favorite acts.

The Auxiliary, a 1,000-capacity independent live music venue, will debut in South End in late 2027, according to a news release sent to CharlotteFive.

To the left, there is a loading dock area with two closed white roll-up garage doors and a small utility trailer parked nearby. Bare trees line the background under a clear sky, and overhead utility lines cross the top left of the frame.

Mason Lane Entertainment, led by founder Ty McBride, signed a lease for the 10,000-square-foot warehouse at 2519 South Tryon Street. The space will undergo a “full retrofit” to become the city’s next go-to music destination and will anchor The Anthem District, an adaptive reuse project headed by Providence Group Capital.

As the district’s first tenant, The Aux is designed to “fill a significant gap” in the city’s live music venue market and stands to host more than 100 events every year.

“We want to bring in a variety of acts — from emerging regional talent to national touring artists on the way up — and give the people of Charlotte a room built for the music, with the sightlines, sound, and intimacy that defined those rooms,” McBride said in the release.

Many audience members have their hands raised, clapping and cheering in the glowing atmosphere. The stage in the background features multiple vertical light panels casting an intense orange and golden hue over the entire venue.

Other entertainment, food and retail concepts are slated to join The Aux at The Anthem District, although exact timelines and other details remain under wraps.

Music lovers are encouraged to stay tuned for programming and ticketing information, which are expected to be announced in the coming months, the release said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
