Dunkin’ Donuts, a Tex-Mex restaurant and more are coming to Strawberry Hill
As Strawberry Hill in south Charlotte undergoes an extensive redevelopment, a Tex-Mex restaurant and a pet shop will move into Fresh Market’s former space, and a Dunkin’ Donuts and a pizza shop will open at the old BB&T spot near Sardis Road.
El Felix – an Atlanta concept serving classics like enchiladas, tacos and margaritas – will occupy 5,851 square feet, and Pawtique Holistic Pet Shoppe will occupy 2,853 square feet of the grocer’s old spot, according to a statement Friday from MPV Properties.
As part of the redevelopment, the old BB&T building at the corner of Providence and Sardis will be demolished. About 17,000 square feet of new retail space is being added, MPV said, and Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins has leased 2,011 square feet, and MOD Pizza, a Seattle artisan-style pizza chain, has leased 2,606 square feet.
A new BB&T building will also be erected on the parcel, MPV has said.
Meanwhile, Fresh Market is moving into a new, larger building closer to Providence Road, as the Observer has previously reported. MPV has noted that in its old spot, the grocer had “virtually no visibility” from the main roads surrounding the shopping center.
As part of the project, five Strawberry Hill apartment buildings were taken down to make way for the market and its parking lot.
Construction on the redevelopment is expected to wrap up in early 2019.
