Hundreds of new apartments planned for North Davidson in Optimist Park
A new development planned for North Davidson Street would bring hundreds more apartments to the Optimist Park neighborhood.
Ohio-based developer Miller-Valentine Group filed a petition to rezone the three-acre site between North Davidson, East 21st and East 22nd streets. This is a block over from Abari Game Bar and Joe’s Doughs.
The unnamed development would include:
– 275 apartments
– 3,500 square feet of ground-floor retail on North Davidson
– Amenities like a saltwater pool, clubhouse and courtyard.
If this sounds familiar, that’s because more than 1,900 apartments are already planned or under construction along the Blue Line extension. Several of them are near this newest planned development:
– 335 Apartments is at Parkwood and North Brevard
– 300 Optimist Park is at Parkwood and 17th Street
– And developers are planning to convert the defunct Highland Park mill on North Brevard and 16th into space for loft offices, restaurants and a food hall, to be called Tompkins Hall.
Charlotte City Council will hold a hearing on this newest rezoning request in late 2016 or early 2017.
