What to do

Head to Hidell Brooks Gallery on March 6 from 6-8 p.m. for the opening of “A Beautiful Mess,” an exhibition of new work by Selena Beaudry. She is known for her stacked collages but will also be showing paintings, sculptures and work created from remnants of collages and paint.

Beaudry said, “All of the work in the show is made through a process of destroying and fixing; remaking until the push/pull creates something that is enticing — challenging me and the viewer. the work questions ideas of beauty, indulgence, and waste.” Her work is on view through March 28.

Who to meet

On March 5 from 6-8 p.m., meet Austrian photographer Josef Hoflehner. He will be in attendance for the opening of his exhibition “Journey into the Sublime” at Anne Neilson Fine Art.

Hoflehner is known for photographs of open landscapes like deserts and coastlines which present an unobstructed view of the horizon. The work, which is sparse yet hopeful, is on view through April 29.

What to see

The Light Factory will host part two of its exhibition “A Shared Elegy,” which will open with a reception on March 5 from 6-8 p.m. Featuring work by Osamu James Nakagawa and his uncle Takayuki Ogawa, as well as Elijah Gowin and his father Emmet Gowin, the exhibition explores themes of family history, legacy, and ties to place. Self-portraits and personal landscapes form the heart of the show, which is on view through April 10.
