If you want to bring out the bubbly to ring in the new year, you’ll have extra time to buy holiday booze.

North Carolina law says all ABC stores across the state must be closed on New Year’s Day, including those in Mecklenburg County.

But this year, the local ABC board extended liquor store hours for the holiday season.

Can you buy liquor on New Year’s Eve in Charlotte?

Yes, all liquor store locations in Mecklenburg County will be open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 31), according to the county board website.

Liquor stores will be closed on New Year’s Day, per state law.

Along with local liquor stores, several grocery stores around Charlotte will also be open with adjusted holiday hours if you want to buy beer or wine.

Which grocery stores will be open to buy beer and wine?

Many grocery stores in the area sell beer and wine — just not hard liquor.

Here’s a look at adjusted holiday hours for grocery stores around Charlotte on New Year’s Eve and Day:

• ALDI: Open with limited hours on New Year’s Eve. Closed New Year’s Day.

• Costco: Open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Closed New Year’s Day.

• Food Lion: Open during regular hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

• Harris Teeter: Open during normal hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Pharmacy will be open until 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed New Year’s Day.

• Lidl: Open until 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Closed New Year’s Day.

• Publix: Open until 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All stores will open at their regular time on New Year’s Day with select locations closing early at 7 p.m.

• Sam’s Club: Open until 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Closed New Year’s Day.

• Target: Most stores will be open until 9 p.m. All locations open during regular hours on New Year’s Day.

• Trader Joe’s: Open until 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Closed New Year’s Day.

• Walmart: Open during normal hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

• Whole Foods: Open with modified hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
