Davidson County Extension Master Gardeners Conference: Feb. 11, (snow date, Feb 18), 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Center United Methodist Church, 186 Center Church Rd, Lexington. Davidson EMG will hold their fifth annual gardeners’ conference open to all gardeners from beginners to advanced. Registration forms available at Ext. office, 301 E. Center St., Lexington or online. The Davidson Horticultural Symposium: Mar. 1, 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m. The Davidson Garden Club presents the Davidson Horticultural Symposium at Davidson College Knobloch Campus Center. This year’s symposium teaches us to make the most of every bit of garden space. Renowned speakers: Fergus Garritt, head gardener of Christopher Lloyd’s Great Dixter; John Carloftis, gardener to celebrities and author; Susan Morrison, California landscape designer; Mary Palmer Dargan, landscape architect and creator of a certification program in Landscape Garden Design at Clemson; and Rita Randolph, horticulturist, photographer and author. It is not a secret, the botanical treasures of the Carolinas have long lured visitors including the Bartrams, Andre Michaux, and Asa Gray. Follow some of our region's less-traveled roads and discover hidden gems.
