Matthews
Lost and found: Are you missing a bicycle or power tool? You may find it at the Matthews Police Station, 1201 Crews Road. The Police Department has a large number of found items such as bicycles, firearms, lawn equipment and tools that they will gladly return to the rightful owner. Visit the station to see if your item has been found. You must bring proof of ownership to have it returned to you. All unclaimed items will be destroyed, donated or placed for auction on Aug. 12. Ballantyne
Walking Wednesdays: Meet at Sara’s YMCA at 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays for 30-minute walk in Ballantyne Corporate Park. All are welcome.
Ramblin’ Rose South Charlotte
Women’s triathlon and 5K: The event begins 7:30 a.m. June 5 at the Harris YMCA. Organizers expect 700 attendees. Participants swim in the indoor pool of the Harris YMCA. The bike course uses Quail Hollow Road, Gleneagles Road, Park Road and Sharon Road. The majority of the run course keeps runners on the YMCA campus. Taste of Charlotte
Festival: Taste of Charlotte is a three-day festival featuring more than 100 samples from area restaurants along with live music and entertainment, interactive children’s activities, street performances, shopping and vendors.
The event takes place June 10 -12. Event hours on are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday on Tryon Street. Also, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The following street will be closed during the Taste of Charlotte:
▪ Tryon Street between Stonewall and Trade streets beginning 9 a.m. June 9.
▪ The cross-streets (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Third Street and Fourth Street) between College Street and Church Street beginning 6:30 p.m. June 9 and will reopen 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. June 10 for commuters.
All streets will reopen by 10 p.m. June 12.
Admission is free. Purchase festival coins to use for restaurant samples, beverages and kid’s activities. You can purchase your coins on site at booths located throughout the festival or purchase them before arriving at www.tasteofcharlotte.com.
