A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 77 in Cornelius Thursday morning, according to Mecklenburg County officials, closing part of the highway down for a time.

The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. on I-77 southbound near Exit 28. At least one lane was closed.

It appears only one vehicle was involved. Details surrounding the crash were not provided.
