Apple iPods are selling for as much as $1,000 online. How much is your model worth?

After more than two decades, Apple has halted the production of its iconic iPod.

Apple has sold an estimated 450 million iPod models since its introduction in 2001, the New York Times reported. The latest model – the seventh-generation iPod Touch – is now sold out on Apple’s website, just a day after the company discontinued it.

Now, a few of the rectangular-shaped music players that can hold thousands of songs have sold for hundreds of dollars online.

Some local pawn shops in the Charlotte area, like PayMore in Gastonia, also accept some iPod models. Sale prices are determined based on the condition and potential resale value of the device, a store employee told The Charlotte Observer.

If you have an iPod laying around the house that is no longer being used, here’s how much you could get for it.

iPod Classic

The iPod Classic, first launched in 2001, was originally priced at $399.

Last month, a 1st generation iPod Classic sold for $1,175 on eBay. Later models, like the 7th generation iPod, have gone for as much as $1,398. However, most used iPod Classics on eBay are selling for $50-$100.

iPod Mini

Three years after releasing the iPod Classic, Apple introduced the $249 iPod Mini. Unfortunately, this model hasn’t held its value over the years.

While a few Minis, such as an unopened 1st generation model have sold for hundreds of dollars more than the original retail price, most sell for around $30 on eBay.

iPod Shuffle

The iPod Shuffle – the first iPod without a display – was released in 2005, and the cheapest model was $99.

Unless you have a sealed iPod Shuffle that’s never been touched, you probably won’t get much in return. Most used Shuffles on eBay sell for $20-$40.

iPod Nano

The iPod Nano came out the same year as the shuffle, and the cheapest model was originally priced at $199.

Some of the earlier, mint-condition Nano models have sold for as much as $1,000 on eBay, though most go for around $60-$80.

iPod Touch

The iPod that closely resembles the iPhone – the iPod Touch – was first released in 2007 for $299.

An unopened John Lennon Special Edition of the first generation iPod Touch recently sold on eBay for $599, and some newer models are going for as much as $424. But most used iPod Touch models are selling for around $100.
