Off-duty Charlotte officer charged with threatening woman; she’s on unpaid leave
A Charlotte police officer has been charged with communicating threats while off duty.
Officer Jazmin Featherstone threatened a woman with physical injury in west Charlotte on Tuesday evening, according to a police report. One of Featherstone’s family members also pointed a firearm at the woman and physically threatened her during an argument, the report states.
Featherstone has worked at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department since October 2023, according to a CMPD news release. She is currently on unpaid administrative leave as CMPD’s internal affairs division investigates the incident.
Featherstone is not currently in custody at the Mecklenburg County jail.
“The criminal charge filed against Officer Featherstone is concerning,” CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said in a statement. “Our department holds all officers to the highest standards of conduct, on and off duty. We will not tolerate actions that compromise public trust or the integrity of this agency. Officers are held to the same laws they are sworn to uphold, and we remain committed to accountability.”
