Ashley store to open in Statesville
Broad River Retail, the nation's largest Ashley licensee, is developing a new Ashley Store on Broad Street in Statesville, building on its growing presence across the Charlotte region.
The new 35,000-square-foot Ashley Store is positioned to serve as an anchor for Broad Street Station, a shopping center off I-77 in a corridor experiencing continued growth. Broad River Retail is taking over the former Food Lion space as part of its strategy to continue growing in existing markets.
"Statesville gives us a chance to invest in a place with real momentum and a strong retail history," said Charlie Malouf, chief executive officer of Broad River Retail. "We see an opportunity to breathe new life into a familiar space and create something that will serve our guests for years to come," according to a news release.
Broad River Retail operates nearby Ashley Stores in Albemarle, Hickory, Mooresville, Salisbury and University City. The Statesville store opening is part of a period of activity that also includes opening new Ashley stores in the Inland Northwest in Spokane, Washington, and Moscow, Idaho, as well as in northern New England in South Portland, Maine.
"We're proud to bring the number one name in furniture, Ashley, to another part of our home market," said Manny Rodrigues, president and chief operating officer of Broad River Retail. "This is an investment in a community we believe in. We're excited to create a place where guests feel inspired, supported, and at home, while delivering a premier customer experience that reflects the trust they've placed in the Ashley brand."
The new Statesville Ashley will feature the latest Ashley 7.0 showroom concept, which includes an open, lifestyle-focused layout designed to showcase full-room collections for bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms and youth spaces. The store will also include Ashley Luxe, Ashley's new luxury collection, and a Sleep Shop featuring mattresses from leading brands, including Tempur-Pedic, Ashley Sleep, Purple, Nectar, Sealy, and Stearns & Foster.
The Statesville Ashley will create around a dozen jobs in retail sales, leadership and visual design.
The store is expected to open in August.
