Corpening YMCA in Marion to host Healthy Aging Day

The Maxwell M. Corpening Jr. Memorial YMCA in Marion will host a free event all about healthy aging.

May is Older Americans Month, and the YMCA of Western North Carolina is hosting Healthy Aging Day at the Corpening YMCA in Marion. The free, community event will feature group exercise classes, pickleball, educational sessions, free health screenings, local vendor booths, complimentary food and beverages and giveaways, according to a news release.

Healthy Aging Day will take place on Monday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is presented by Hopscotch Primary Care.

"You're never too early or too late in life to invest in your well-being," said Sadie Simpson, healthy aging manager at the YMCA of WNC. "At the Y, we're committed to creating welcoming spaces where older adults can stay active, build connections, and access the support they need to thrive."

Events for Healthy Aging Day:

9 a.m. to noon: Blood pressure and glucose screenings with Hopscotch Primary Care

9-11 a.m.: Pickleball

9:30-10:30 a.m.: Fluid movement water aerobics
