Pedestrian hit by car, killed along N.C. 150 in Sherrills Ford on Friday

A pedestrian from North Myrtle Beach was hit and killed by a car on N.C. Highway 150 in Sherrills Ford on Friday.

Madison Palmer, 27, died at the scene, N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper Jake Macchia said in a news release.

No charges have been filed in the case as of Saturday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. on N.C Highway 150 near Emerald Isle Drive in Catawba County. A 2012 Jeep Liberty was driving east on the highway and hit a pedestrian in the road, Macchia said.

Abigail Wooten, 20, of Kannapolis, was identified as the driver. Wooten was not injured. Palmer was identified as the pedestrian, Macchia said.
