'A TASTE OF BOONE'
Appalachian Mountain Brewery is opening an AMB Outpost in Old Fort.
The brewery plans to open the taproom in the same building as Modern Alchemist Co., a distillery and restaurant owned by AMB that opened in October 2025.
The lower level of the building will be turned into a relaxed, community beer experience inspired by AMB's original Boone brewery and Mills River taproom, according to a news release from AMB.
The new AMB Outpost will have 12 rotating taps, elevated Southern pub food and dog-friendly accommodations, according to the brewery.
"We've heard the feedback and we're bringing it," Nathan Kelischek, co-founder and president, said. "We are excited to deliver a taste of Boone to Old Fort with a piece of Appalachian Mountain Brewery."
The upstairs level of the building will continue operating as a Modern Alchemist Co. Lounge and event space where visitors can overlook the distillery production area while enjoying handcrafted cocktails, beer, THC/CBD beverages or non-alcoholic offerings.
The 8,500-square-foot beverage destination sits inside a historic former sock factory, according to the news release.
"Community has always been at the core of AMB and The Outpost will serve as an ideal gathering place with regular programming and a general laid-back vibe that's a perfect destination after a ride or hike in Pisgah," Chris Zieber, co-founder and CEO, said.
The AMB Outpost at Modern Alchemist Co. will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, June 5, according to the news release. The business is located at 78A Catawba Ave., Old Fort.
