Update: Alamance County woman out of jail following charges in fatal Greensboro crash

An Alamance County woman previously charged with impaired driving is facing new charges after a High Point woman died of injuries sustained in a crash in Greensboro last week.

Makayla Kaitlynn Ouboun Theng, 24, of Graham, was initially charged with driving while intoxicated, among other charges, following a crash on Spring Garden Street in the early hours of June 14.

Police said Theng cause the collision by making an unsafe U-Turn in front of the moped.

With the death of 21-year-old Anastasia Estrella Cooper, one of the two people on the moped, on Friday, Theng is now facing new charges: one felony count each of death by vehicle and serious injury by vehicle as well as unsafe tires.

Theng was released from jail Sunday after being issued a $100,000 secured bond, according to court documents.

Cooper was a High Point resident who attended Winston-Salem State University, according to her obituary.
