A popular light rail park and ride lot near Charlotte’s Sedgefield neighborhood closed this month, the Charlotte Area Transit System announced.

The parking lot, with 315 spots, served the Scaleybark Station at 3750 South Blvd. The lot was available to CATS customers in a temporary agreement while the property was prepared for redevelopment, CATS spokeswoman Jayla Gittens told The Charlotte Observer.

That location will soon feature two five-story office buildings totaling 190,000-square-feet within a 15-acre, mixed use development.

The development, called The Station at LoSo, is represented by Beacon Partners, Crescent Communities and Thrift Commercial Real Estate Services. The development will also feature 25,000-square-feet of ground floor retail and 350 residential units and a public coffee shop, according to The Station at LoSo’s website.

Crescent Communities did not respond to emails from the Observer.

Beacon Partners began construction on the Station’s office buildings in November and expects the work to be complete by the end of this year, spokeswoman Erin Shaw told the Observer.
