SouthPark mall sees 2 stores make their NC debut there. More are on the way

Two stores recently made their North Carolina debuts at SouthPark mall in Charlotte, and more retailers will expand there soon.

The iconic watchmaker Swatch opened May 2 in a 830-square-foot space at the mall’s fountain court, according to the company. The iconic Swiss brand, founded in 1983, specializes in watches and jewelry for men and women. The store also includes an area for Flik Flak, the watch brand for children.

Laguna Beach, California, jeweler Gorjana opened the same week on April 28 in the mall’s center court. Founded over 15 years ago, Gorjana jewelry pieces are designed to be layered and personalized. Gorjana has 100 stores, according to the company.

Other recent additions at SouthPark include clothing brand Tommy Bahama’s first Marlin Bar, which opened in March; Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Chanel Fragrance & Beauty. In December, pop artist and founder of the “Happy Art Movement” debuted his first North Carolina store, BRITTO retail store near Belk.

More new stores for SouthPark mall

Four more retailers have plans to expand to SouthPark, according to the mall’s website. Mall owner Simon provided The Charlotte Observer with an updated timeline for when the stores are expected to open.

CAMP, a family experience company that combines retail and immersive activities and events, will open this year in the Macy’s wing near American Eagle and H&M. It will be the first North Carolina location. Activities and crafts vary by store but include making slime of the month and camps such as an immersive adventure that ends with a meet-and-greet with Bluey and Bingo.

Camp has nine other stores across the country from Los Angeles to New York City with the closest location in Atlanta, according to the company.

Sarku Japan will join restaurants in the dining pavilion in July with Japanese cuisine, including rice bowls, noodle bowls and sushi rolls. Founded in 1987, Sarku Japan is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, and has over 180 locations in 32 states.

Sarku has four stores in North Carolina, including Carolina Place mall in Pineville.

Reformation vintage-inspired and sustainable clothing brand will open between October and December between Circle and Center Court. Founded in 2009, Reformation has over 40 stores in 16 states and Washington, D.C. This will be its first North Carolina store.

Trendy Spanish women’s retailer Zara also plans to make its North Carolina and Charlotte debut in January at SouthPark mall.

SouthPark, at 4400 Sharon Road, has 168 stores and restaurants.
