‘Help me!’ Video shows SouthPark mall shoppers running as wall falls during storm
A temporary wall collapsed Saturday at SouthPark mall in Charlotte leading to cries for help.
A cell phone video on social media shows the modular wall splayed across half of the mall hallway as people start running to someone yelling, “Help me!”
The downed wall exposes construction inside what will be Zara, near Belk. The trendy Spanish women’s retailer will make its North Carolina debut at the mall by next year.
MEDIC did not respond, as no one was hurt, Medic 911 Press said on X Monday.
The incident happened during a rainstorm Saturday. The video shows an open exterior door.

The Charlotte Observer reached out to mall officials for comment Sunday and Monday. They responded after 5 p.m. Tuesday, saying that an unexpected strong gust of wind during Saturday’s storm caused the wall to fall.
“Everything is back in place and the mall is operating as normal,” SouthPark said.
SouthPark, at 4400 Sharon Road, has 169 stores and restaurants. Property owner is Simon, which also owns Charlotte Premium Outlets and Concord Mills in Concord.
