Charlotte scores over 200 jobs with new $200M logistics hub expansion near CLT

A national transportation and supply chain management company is building a $200 million campus near the Charlotte airport and adding over 200 jobs to the market.

Averitt Express will transform a 104-acre plot on Shopton Road near Charlotte Douglas International Airport into its regional campus where it will operate all five of its services, according to a news release from the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. The five services include distribution and fulfillment.

With the new campus, Averitt will add 211 positions over the next four years with an average salary of $81,769. Many of the new positions won’t require a college degree. There will be on-the-job training as well as advancement opportunities.

The campus will replace Averitt’s existing site at 3708 Westinghouse Blvd. It’s new location at 2124 Shopton Road will include a two-story, 16,000-sqaure-foot office with a training and collaboration center.

There will also be a 75,000-square-foot, 150-door dock with the ability to expand to 200 doors. And there’ll be two warehouses on site with over 500,000 square feet of distribution and fulfillment space.

Construction will start immediately and may be completed by 2028. At full build, the development could cost more than $200 million, according to the news release.
