Charlotte suburb to get a new store from a fast-growing discount retailer
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, one of the country’s fastest-growing retailers, is opening a new store in suburban Charlotte, this time in Lancaster.
The 1202 Hwy. 9 Bypass store will open July 30. The former Badcock Home Furniture building on the northwest side of the city will now carry books, bedding and beauty products, along with items for the house, car and patio. Ollie’s stores have food and clothes, too.
Ollie’s, known for its “Good Stuff Cheap” tagline, finds brand name closeout merchandise or excess inventory and sells it for lower prices. Items are up to 70% off retail prices. The store’s customer loyalty program, Ollie’s Army, includes special shopping event access and further discounts.
Across the company, brand name items that appear at Ollie’s stores include deals from Claire’s, General Electric, Keurig, Poppi and Brawny.
Ollie’s has one other store in the Rock Hill region store, on Celanese Road in Rock Hill. There are six others in the Charlotte region, from Matthews to Mooresville in North Carolina. At the beginning of May, there were 672 Ollie’s stores in 35 states.
There have been 16 store openings since, including four this week. Ollie’s opened 27 stores in the first quarter this year.
The new Lancaster store will employ up to 60 people. It will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. A ribbon cutting with giveaways will happen at 8:45 a.m. on July 30.
