Here’s where JPMorgan is opening its first bank branches in Charlotte
JP Morgan Chase disclosed the location of its first three branches in the Charlotte area with federal regulators late last year, planning one branch each in uptown, Cornelius and the Arboretum shopping center.
The branches are the first of the New York bank’s retail expansion into Charlotte, where it plans to have up to 21 branches over the next three years.
The bank opened its first North Carolina branch in Chapel Hill in August.
The branch locations are:
Uptown: 112 South Tryon Street, the southwest corner of South Tryon Street and West Trade Street.
Arboretum: the southwest corner of Pineville-Matthews Road and Arboretum View.
Cornelius: the northeast corner of West Catawba Avenue and Jetton Road.
The uptown branch was first of the Charlotte branches to gain regulatory approval, given in July, and will open in February. The other two will open later this year.
JP Morgan has continually grown its presence in North Carolina, already employing over 200 workers in the state and hiring more. The retail branches will add to the firm’s commercial banking and private banking offices in the city.
The openings, this time from the largest bank in the United States, add to an ever-growing list of major banks to have a presence in Charlotte: U.S. Bank opened the first of 10 planned Charlotte-area branches in October.
The branches buck a nationwide trend of widespread branch closures, but many firms see an opportunity in the Charlotte area’s relative affluence and rapid growth.
