Charlotte developer already active in NoDa spends $9M for land in prominent spot
A Charlotte developer that’s behind a few apartment projects in and around NoDa bought more land last week along a prominent block near the neighborhood.
Space Craft purchased two parcels at 2321 N. Davidson St. for $9 million, according to Mecklenburg County property records.
The site — totaling about 2.5 acres — is across the street from Rhino Market & Deli. It’s adjacent to the old Lawrence Knitting Mills where another developer has plans for food stalls and test kitchen.
Space Craft developed The Joinery in nearby Optimist Park. The 83-unit apartment building was billed as Charlotte’s first such project built without a parking deck.
Late last year, it announced two more projects, a 28-unit apartment building called The Millhouse in the Belmont neighborhood and The Inkwell, a 65-unit project in NoDa.
Space Craft is aiming to make the Mill District — the neighborhoods of Belmont, Optimist Park, NoDa and Villa Heights — more connected and walkable.
Reached this week by email, Mohit Shewaramani, director of operations and strategy at Space Craft, said the company is working through initial plans and didn’t have anything more to share.
Andrew Blumenthal of Legacy Real Estate Advisors represented Space Craft as the broker in the transaction.
