A wine country-inspired restaurant with more than 60 wines on tap will make its North Carolina debut in Charlotte, joining a growing list of South End retailers.

Sixty Vines, with a 60-tap wine system, will open at Vantage South End at 1415 Vantage Park Drive, according to a company news release. No time frame for opening was provided and company officials did not respond to a request for comment.

The Texas-based, wine-focused restaurant will join other retailers including The Good Wurst Co.’s second Charlotte location, Dram & Draught whiskey and cocktail bar, and Uptown Yolk breakfast and brunch spot on the 5-acre site.

Vantage South End, a development by The Spectrum Companies and Invesco Real Estate, includes two 11-story office towers overlooking a 1-acre urban park and the uptown skyline. The site includes 635,000 square feet of office space, retail and amenities.

In June, fintech company LendingTree moved its headquarters into the sixth floor and all of the seventh through 11th floors in the west tower. And last month, broadband and telecommunications company Brightspeed said it will open its headquarters in the east tower by the end of the year.

Sixty Vines’ 8,000-square-foot restaurant interior includes high ceilings, local art and handmade communal tables, according to the company. It will also have a 2,600-square-foot patio.

Sixty Vines has five locations in Texas, Florida and Tennessee, according to the company website.

Why is wine on tap?

Serving wine on tap allows people to enjoy the closest “from the barrel” experience possible outside of the vineyard, according to Sixty Vines.

One keg holds 26 wine bottles and 1,500 bottles over its refillable lifetime, Sixty Vines said.

The keg wine system also is eco-friendly with less packaging, creating less waste. Sixty Vines also serves wine flights for sampling.

On the menu

Sixty Vines serves customizable charcuterie boards, wood-fired pizzas and shareable plates like pan roasted mussels — all paired with wines.

The menu also includes sandwiches such as Cabernet burgers and fried chicken, main dishes like rainbow trout and pork chop, plus pasta and salads.

The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and brunch. Sixty Vines also accommodates private events and group seatings.
