Watch Panthers’ star Christian McCaffrey ‘go the social distance’ in new team video
Still unsure how far you should keep from others to help prevent spread of the new coronavirus — or how far 6 feet really is?
In a public service video released by the Carolina Panthers on Friday, star running back Christian McCaffrey shows you.
The 58-second video, titled “Social Distancing with Christian McCaffrey,” includes clips from NFL games of McCaffrey fooling one defender after the next with his moves and other clips of him speeding untouched down the field.
“Is he touched?” one game announcer asks. “No he is not. That’s about as easy as it gets.”
“You gotta be a smart player, and he has certainly proven that,” an announcer says in another clip as McCaffrey fools and races past defenders.
In another clip in which a defender nears McCaffrey, a game announcer says of the defender: “He came close to making a little contact, but he didn’t.”
The video includes other clips of a news announcer discussing the virus.
“It is a phrase we’re hearing more and more — social distancing — and just staying away from people,” the announcer says.
“People can limit their exposure to the virus,” she continues, “by maintaining as much distance as possible between you and those around you. It’s best to avoid contact entirely.”
The video ends with clips of McCaffrey dancing alone at home and an image of him smiling in a closed window.
The Panthers reinforced the social distancing message by adding #StayHomeStayStrong.”
In 24 hours, the video had drawn 87,700 views.
