FBI nabs three more suspected members of United Blood Nation, two from Charlotte

The FBI’s successful crackdown on the United Blood Nation street gang continued Friday, with news that three suspects on the run were caught.

Joe Tarpeh Johnson and Lavon Christopher Turner were captured in Charlotte and Brandon Theodore Manning surrendered to authorities in Columbia, South Carolina, said the FBI.

Johnson went by the nicknames “Big Pusha” and “Kutthroat” while Turner was known as “Hungry.” All three men are charged with racketeering, among other things.

“The FBI is continuing to follow leads on the additional seven fugitives from yesterday's multi-agency gang take down,” said a statement.

The FBI raids conducted Thursday were largely focused in North Carolina, though arrests were made in Florida, South Carolina and New York. Dozens of alleged members of United Blood Nation were indicted for crimes including murder and assault.

In all, 83 people were indicted as suspected members of a UBN wing known as “Nine Trey Gangsters.” Thirty were already in jail for other crimes.

Twenty four of the suspects arrested Thursday were in Charlotte, more than any other location.
