Monday traffic: Many accidents as rain slows the commute

Rain was falling and traffic was heavy on many major thoroughfares Monday morning, with several accidents and miscellaneous traffic incidents slowing commuters as of 8:15 a.m.

Incidents reported by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police included:

▪ 7:27 a.m. accident at 8226 Monroe Road.

▪ 7:39 a.m. accident at 1704 Harris Houston Road.

▪ 7:41 a.m. hit-and-run in the roadway at West Sugar Creek Road and Interstate 85 North.

▪ 7:45 a.m. disabled vehicle in the roadway at West Boulevard and Dr. Carver Road.

▪ 7:46 a.m. road blockage at Pineville Matthews Road and Sardis Plantation Drive.

▪ 7:47 a.m. accident at 9213 Beatties Ford Road.

▪ 7:47 a.m. accident at Atando Avenue and Statesville Avenue.

▪ 7:48 a.m. accident at North Tryon Street and Salome Church Road.

▪ 7:49 a.m. disabled vehicle at 100 Orange St..

▪ 7:55 a.m. disabled vehicle at North Tryon Street and East Sugar Creek Road.

▪ 8:01 a.m. accident at Meadowbrook Road and Randolph Road.

▪ 8:03 a.m. accident at Gilead Road and North Statesville Road.

▪ 8:06 a.m. accident at Sharon Road West and South Boulevard.
