Police credit tips from the public for the arrests of four suspects in daylight parking lot robberies at Concord Mills mall.

The Jan. 5 robberies occurred in the same parking lot where a 13-year-old girl was fatally shot eight days earlier, police said.

Victims of the Jan. 5 robberies reported being threatened with a handgun, punched and having cash stolen from them outside the entrance to Burlington Coat Factory, Concord police said. The robberies occurred about 3 p.m. that Sunday afternoon, police said. The number of victims was unavailable Saturday.

On Friday, police announced the arrests of Chyna B’Nai Cross and Myreon Bennett, both 18 and of Concord; 20-year-old Jared Whitehead of Charlotte; and a 16-year-old juvenile. All were jailed on robbery with a dangerous weapon charges. Cross also was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

On the night of Dec. 28, 13-year-old Aveanna Propst of Concord was fatally shot outside Dave & Buster’s on Concord Mills Boulevard. Two boys, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, were shot and hurt.

Aveanna and the boys were not involved in an altercation that led to the shooting and were not the shooter’s intended targets, police said. An 18-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested in the case.
