NC man set mobile home on fire after argument with his mother, deputies say

A 34-year-old North Carolina man grew so enraged while arguing with his mother that he set their mobile home ablaze, authorities say.

Deputies in Lincoln County arrested the man on Tuesday, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Scott Andy Norman was charged with arson and injury to personal property, deputies said.

Norman is accused of starting the fire after arguing with his mother, which led to him becoming “irate,” the sheriff’s office said in its news release.

Firefighters arrived with police to find the back of the mobile home on Forest Wehunt Road “fully engulfed in flames,” according to the release.

A witness told deputies that Norman threw items on the fire and used a stick to break windows on three cars, deputies said. Investigators have not disclosed if they know what led to the dispute but described the incident in Tuesday’s news statement as a “family disturbance.”

Norman and his mother refused treatment by EMS, investigators said.
