Shooting in parking lot of east Charlotte gas station leaves one dead, CMPD says

A male has died after being shot in a gas station parking lot in east Charlotte’s Commonwealth neighborhood, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The name and age of the victim have not yet been released.

It happened just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Citgo Station at 1126 Morningside Drive, police said in a press release.

“When (officers) arrived, they located a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds,” police said in a release.

“The victim was transported to the hospital by MEDIC with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital approximately 1 hour later.”

Detectives have not said if there is a suspect in the case.
