Teen dies after suspect shot him multiple times at a Charlotte gas station, cops say

Police arrested a 16-year-old in Thursday’s fatal shooting of another teen in the parking lot of a Citgo gas station.

Reginald Deveaux died at a hospital after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers found him with gunshot wounds outside the station in the 1100 block of Morningside Drive just before 9:30 p.m. That’s off Independence Boulevard just west of Briar Creek Road.

Homicide detectives interviewed the suspect before taking him to a juvenile detention center, where he was charged with murder.

Police are not saying if they know a motive behind the shooting but said late Friday the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the CMPD homicide unit at 704-432-8477 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
