SouthPark restaurant closed temporarily after workers test positive for COVID

Peppervine restaurant in the SouthPark area of Charlotte closed temporarily last Saturday after learning that some of its employees tested positive for the novel coronavirus, management posted on Facebook.

The restaurant intends to reopen on Wednesday after undergoing “a deep clean and complete sanitization,” management posted, without saying how many employees tested positive for the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

“In the meantime, we are coordinating COVID-19 tests for each of our team members,” according to the post. “We want to be sure that our team is safe and healthy before returning to work.”

Chef/owner Bill Greene and his wife and partner Anita Greene opened the high-end restaurant last year on Piedmont Row Drive. The couple also own Banner Elk’s Artisanal restaurant.

Several other Charlotte dining and other establishments closed temporarily in recent months after workers tested positive for COVID-19, including Tipsy Burro Saloon & Cantina on Monroe Road and The Crunkleton Charlotte cocktail bar and restaurant in the Elizabeth neighborhood.

Others, including JJ’s Red Hots in uptown, The Cellar at Corkbuzz New York wine bar in SouthPark and Fitzgerald’s announced permanent closings due to the lack of patrons during the pandemic, the Observer previously reported.

Still other uptown restaurants say they’ve remained open but are struggling financially with considerably fewer patrons.
