Mike Krzyzewski has two more regular-season basketball games to coach.

The first is Tuesday night, when his Duke Blue Devils head to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers. Then all eyes — and hearts — turn to Saturday night.

After 42 years at Duke, Coach K will walk onto the court named in his honor for the last time when the Blue Devils take on their nemesis North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham.

Tickets for the regular-season finale have been the most sought-after in sports — more than the Super Bowl — (Durham) Herald-Sun sports writer Steve Wiseman reported this past week.

A quick check on StubHub.com on Thursday night showed the most expensive ticket for the game was $79,988 plus fees.

If you fall short of the asking price, relax and watch the “Konclusion” on ESPN. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.

Look for coverage from our colleagues at the News & Observer in Raleigh this coming week.

The ACC men’s tournament begins March 8 at Barclays Center in New York. The women’s tournament at Greensboro Coliseum starts Wednesday.

It’s fútbol time in CLT

After a year’s delay because of the pandemic, Charlotte’s newest pro sports franchise made its debut Saturday night in Washington. Next week, Charlotte FC plays its first home match.

The Major League Soccer expansion club will take the field (or pitch) for the first time at Bank of America Stadium to face the LA Galaxy next Saturday night.

Charlotte FC — and MLS commissioner Don Garber — have set sights on breaking the league record by hosting a crowd of more than 74,000 fans at its home opener. That would top the current mark of 73,019 fans, set by Atlanta United for a 2018 playoff match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Watch for coverage from the Observer’s Alex Andrejev and others throughout the week.

Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, marks the end of Carnival season. There might still be time to run out for a King Cake, the traditional dessert for the season.

The Observer’s Mary Ramsey gets you ready for Fat Tuesday with a list of Charlotte-area shops that sell King Cakes. Find it at https://bit.ly/3KcuZ6H.

Of course, the end of Carnival means Lent begins the next day. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the solemn season for Christians.
