Wreck on I-85 in Charlotte kills one person, badly injures another, Medic says

One person died and another was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries in a wreck on Interstate 85 in Charlotte near the Cabarrus County line Wednesday morning, Medic confirmed on Twitter.

Medic paramedics pronounced the one person dead at the scene.

The wreck happened just after 8 a.m. south of the Concord Mills-Bruton Smith Boulevard exit, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The left two northbound lanes along the three-lane stretch of the interstate were closed until about 10:30 a.m., highway officials said in an alert.

Police released no details about the wreck by Wednesday night.
