What’s open on Good Friday and Easter in Charlotte? Everything you need to know

Good Friday is today and Easter is on Sunday, meaning several businesses in Charlotte will be closed over the weekend.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed in Charlotte over the holiday weekend:

City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County offices

All city and county offices will be closed on Good Friday, according to their websites.

According to the city’s collection calendar, garbage and recycling services will operate on normal schedules.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

There will be no school on Good Friday for CMS schools, according to their 2021-2022 academic calendar.

Mail services

The United States Postal Service (USPS) does not recognize Easter or Good Friday as holidays, according to their website, but all Charlotte locations are closed on Sundays.

FedEx and UPS locations in Charlotte will be open on Good Friday, but closed on Easter.

Malls

All malls in Charlotte will be open on Good Friday, but individual store hours may vary, according to their websites.

Here are the Good Friday and Easter hours for each mall:

• Concord Mills: Good Friday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m; Easter: 12-6 p.m.

• SouthPark Mall: Good Friday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Easter: Closed

• Northlake Mall: Good Friday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Easter: Closed

• Carolina Place Mall: Good Friday: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Easter: Closed

• Charlotte Premium Outlets: Good Friday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Easter: 12-6 p.m.

Grocery stores and retail

Many grocery and retail stores, like Walmart, Walgreens and Home Depot will be open on Easter Sunday.

ABC Stores

ABC stores will be open on Good Friday, but they are never open on Sundays. According to the N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, ABC stores cannot sell alcohol on Sundays, New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
