Lane and ramp closings continue around I-277 in uptown. This is what drivers should know.

Ramp and lane closings continue on Interstate 277 in uptown Charlotte this week for bridge rehab work, state highway officials said.

The closures are part of a $26 million contract to improve bridges from 10th Street to Interstate 77, according to a news release in April by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

This week’s closings include:

At 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, crews were scheduled to close the two right lanes on the I-277 outer loop, along with the entrance ramp from Caldwell Street and the exit ramp from Church Street to the outer loop.

The lanes and ramps are scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m. Thursday, officials said.

The lanes and ramps also were closed Monday night and early Tuesday for the bridge rehabilitation project, which is on the Brookshire Freeway part of I-277.

At 9 p.m. Friday, May 13, NCDOT contract crews will close the two left lanes on the outer loop and the entrance ramps from Graham and West 12th streets to the outer loop until 6 a.m. Saturday.
