‘He’s neutralized.’ New DaBaby song recounts when he shot intruder at NC mansion

Charlotte rapper DaBaby has officially immortalized his April shooting of an intruder at his mansion north of Charlotte in Troutman.

DaBaby features the encounter in the lyrics of “SOCKS,” a song on his new “Baby on Baby 2” album released Friday on Spotify.

The song includes what the artist says is a recording of his 911 call reporting the incident.

“He’s neutralized,” DaBaby tells the dispatcher who answers his call, as recounted in the song.

“Are you with him now?” DaBaby is asked.

“He’s neutralized until you guys get here,” the rapper replies.

DaBaby promoted the song in a humorous video titled “Baby on Baby 2 Therapy Session,” in which first the therapist and then DaBaby pull out a gun as they converse.

In real life, the investigation is complete, and no one will be charged in the April 13 shooting at DaBaby’s mansion, Troutman police said in a Facebook post in May.

After consulting with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office, authorities won’t be filing any criminal charges “at this time,” the post said.

The shooting left one person with a non-life-threatening wound to their leg, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, and another person were in the home at the time of shooting, police said. In the 911 call, an unidentified person told the dispatcher that they shot a “trespasser” on the football field outside of the home.

The DA’s decision came a week after Rolling Stone released security footage from the shooting at a Huntersville Walmart involving DaBaby in 2018. He claimed self-defense after fatally shooting 19-year-old Jaylin Craig during an altercation.
