A memorial service for Sheyenne Marshall, the 17-year-old Concord girl hit by a boat on the Fourth of July, will take place Saturday at Hickory Grove Baptist Church’s North Campus.

The Marshall family will accept visits from friends beginning at 10 a.m. The service will start at 12:30 and be followed by a burial at Carolina Memorial Park.

Sheyenne died Saturday night while knee-boarding on Lake Norman. The driver of the pontoon boat that hit her, Keith Cerven, has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The Rev. Philip Long will officiate the ceremony. Long spoke at a vigil Sunday at Cox Mill High School, where Marshall was a rising senior, and recalled her smile.

“You’ll never forget it,” Long said.

Those who knew Sheyenne can send condolences to Wilkinson Funeral Home.
