A dreary forecast could make for a wet Halloween night in Charlotte, especially during prime trick-or-treating hours.

The National Weather Service is predicting rain in and around Charlotte for Monday evening, with showers most likely between 5 and 8 p.m.

Overall, the weather service says, the chance of rain throughout the day and night Monday is 60%. “Between a quarter and half of an inch” of rain is possible in the Charlotte area Monday night, forecasters add.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the high 50s Halloween night, per the weather service. And winds in the area should be “calm” during trick or treating.

To add to the spooky nature of the day, forecasters are also calling for fog in the area Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

The weather is expected to improve by midday Tuesday, with the weather service forecasting a partly sunny day and temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s.
