16-year-old dead, six others hurt in Union County crash
Highway Patrol says alcohol was a factor in a Saturday night crash that killed a 16-year-old girl from Waxhaw and injured six others in a Union County.
Autumn Plyler, one of the passengers in the vehicle, died in the accident.
The single-vehicle crash happened before midnight Saturday night on Lancaster Highway near Big Horn Lane, that's just outside of the Waxhaw city limits.
The Jackson Volunteer Fire Department was the first official unit to arrive on the scene and they say the driver lost control and went off the right side of the road. When the driver over corrected, the vehicle crossed the centerline, and went off the right side of the road before coming to a stop when it hit a tree.
One person had to be airlifted to the hospital and five others were driven to the hospital. Officials have not released how they are doing.
Troopers said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Fire officials said the crash involved young people.
