Pedestrian hit and killed near Interstate 77 overpass in southwest Charlotte

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in southwest Charlotte on Saturday night, according to Medic.

Officials responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle near the 7800 block of Nations Ford Road, where it crosses Interstate 77, around 9:46 p.m. Saturday. Medic confirmed one person died following the incident.

No further details were available.

Roughly 120 pedestrians and bicyclists were hit and killed in Charlotte from 2018 through 2022, the Charlotte Observer previously reported. More than 2,000 people were hit by cars or trucks within that same time.
