Person stabbed on uptown Charlotte streetcar; transit line partially closed

One person is in police custody and another is in the hospital after a stabbing on the Gold Line street car in uptown Charlotte Thursday, according to authorities.

An altercation led to the violence, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said the suspect fled but was soon detained. WSOC, the Observer’s news partner, reported one person was stabbed on the Gold Line close to the Johnson and Wales stop.

Medic confirmed the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

CATS said it would use buses instead of the street car between the uptown transit center and French Street. The Gold Line will operate between the transit center and the Sunnyside Avenue stop, but riders should expect delays, CATS said.
