Child in diaper discovered wandering a Charlotte street before parent found

CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT

A child in a pull-up diaper was found wandering a Charlotte street on Saturday morning before his parent was finally located later in the evening, police said.

The child told police his name is Cane, spelling unknown, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said on Twitter.

At 6:30 p.m., CMPD said on Twitter that the child’s parent had been found and that any additional information will come from CMPD Public Affairs.

Hours earlier, police had released a photo of the smiling 3- or 4-year-old in hopes someone recognized him and knows why he was alone near the 5100 block of Brooktree Drive, off Freedom Drive in west Charlotte.

The block of Brooktree dead-ends into woods, Google Maps shows.

The child was walking toward Toddville Road when a concerned citizen spotted him around 10 a.m., police said. The toddler had a white T-shirt on, is Black, 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds, according to CMPD.

The boy has shorter-than-collar length corn rows.
