Which streets will be closed for the Charlotte Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving? What to know

This week, thousands of people from around the area are expected to take part in the annual Charlotte Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.

The annual event, held on Thursday, Nov. 23, is the largest road race in the state, with a 8K run, a 5K run/walk and a one mile run/walk along with a 40-yard Tot Trot for kids 8 years old and younger.

All of the races will start and finish at SouthPark mall, so there will be people out running and walking nearby roads before filling up with turkey and good company.

Here’s a look at the courses for each race and which roads will be closed off for participants:

8K race route

1 mile race route

The first race, the one mile race, will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the 8K at 8:10 a.m. The Tot Trot will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K race will kick off at 9:10 a.m.

It’s not too late to sign up for the Charlotte Turkey Trot. You can register for a race and find more information about the event online at www.cltturkeytrot.com/.

The Charlotte Turkey Trot in SouthPark won’t be the only race going on in the area on Thanksgiving. There will also be runners and walkers participating in the University City Turkey Trot 5K in University City at 8 a.m. and the Turkey Dash Charlotte races in Ballantyne at 8:30 a.m.
