The call came from inside the house: Concord firetruck catches fire inside station

Firefighters at Concord Fire Station 8 were awakened early Thursday morning by an alarm. But they didn’t have to travel far for this one.

Fire alarms inside the station went off at 4:18 a.m., according to a town press release, waking up the crew who began searching for the source.

A reserve ladder tuck had caught fire inside the station’s bay.

The area was filled with smoke. Firefighters jumped into their their gear and got the truck out of the station to then put out the fire.

Additional firefighters were dispatched to Station 8. The fire was under control six minutes after the alarm.

No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation. The town said the fire is believed to have started inside the cab area of the truck.

The town is now cleaning up smoke damage in the station, which remains open.
