Authorities are investigating the Tuesday death of a pedestrian struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 485 as a possible suicide, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

Master Trooper Roger Roberts said the crash remained under investigation.

The crash happened about 9:27 a.m. on the outer loop near Fairview Road, closing the highway and causing traffic delays.
