Lake Norman bridge inspection to cause delays for weeks, NCDOT officials say

Expect travel delays for three weeks as crews inspect a bridge over Lake Norman, state highway officials said Tuesday.

The inspection on Slanting Bridge Road in Catawba County is scheduled to begin Monday, June 2, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The bridge will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Flaggers will direct traffic.

“Drivers should plan for extra travel time and stay alert approaching the work zone,” according to an NCDOT news release.

The inspection is needed for a future bridge preservation project, officials said.
