1 person dead, four injured in I-485 morning crash in Charlotte

One person was dead and four others injured in an early morning crash near west Charlotte on Interstate 485.

One person died and four people were injured in a crash on Interstate 485 near west Charlotte at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Two people were taken to the hospital by Gaston County EMS and the other two by MEDIC while West Mecklenburg Rescue pronounced the person dead, MEDIC said.

Four northbound lanes were shut down until 5 a.m. when they reopened to commuters, according to Observer news partner WSOC.
