NC Publix shopper snares top prize in a popular new lottery game, officials say
A shopper at a Publix saw a lottery ticket offering a “Winter Winfall,” so she bought one and hit a top prize in the new game, N.C. lottery officials said Saturday.
The winner beat odds of 1 in 3.2 million, according to the $20 scratch-off ticket’s game page on N.C. Lottery.com.
Christine Dominey of Charlotte bought the winning $250,000 ticket at the Publix Market at Steele Creek Crossing, 12810 S. Tryon St. in Charlotte, according to the lottery.
Lottery game launched Nov. 4
Dominey didn’t say how she’ll spend her winnings when she claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Friday.
She took home $179,381 after taxes, officials said.
Winter Winfall debuted Nov. 4 with three $250,000 top prizes. One remains to be claimed, according to the lottery.
One $50,000 prize and four $10,000 prizes remain, the game page showed Saturday.
