A new bank is being proposed within the growing Prescot Village shopping center in Waxhaw.

On February 25, construction plans were submitted for a 3,000 square foot PNC Bank on 7521 Prescot Glen Parkway. Karyn Ostrom, a spokesperson for the bank, has a ground lease for the land and expects to open the branch in the summer of 2027.

The preliminary proposal says the site will include a drive-thru, parking and utilities. The project is currently under review, according to town of Waxhaw records.

The proposed Waxhaw branch is part of a larger expansion effort of PNC Bank in the Charlotte area. The bank plans to open 25 new branches in the region through 2029, Ostrom said.

“We’re looking forward to expanding our local reach and impact through this meaningful expansion,” she said in an email to the Observer.

The bank’s proposed location is behind Prescot Village and shopping center anchored by a 50,900 sq ft Lowes Foods with 32,100 additional square ft. of retail use, according to development plans. The PNC branch will join new expansions such as Chase Bank and Truist less than a mile away on Providence Road.

The expansion of PNC Bank into Union County comes amid rural areas losing access. A 2025 Charlotte Observer investigation revealed that between 2013-2024 neighboring Anson County lost two-thirds of its banks — including PNC.
